ภูกระดึง
ภูกระดึง เป็นอุทยานแห่งชาติ ลำดับที่ 2 ของประเทศไทย
ตั้งอยู่ในท้องที่ตำบลศรีฐาน อำเภอภูกระดึง จังหวัดเลย
เป็นภูเขาหินทรายยอดตัด เป็นที่ราบขนาดใหญ่ มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 60
ตารางกิโลเมตร มีความสูง 400-1,200 เมตร จากระดับน้ำทะเลปานกลาง
เป็นแหล่งท่องเที่ยวทางธรรมชาติ ที่ได้รับความนิยมมากแห่งหนึ่งของเมืองไทย
จุดสูงสุดอยู่ที่บริเวณคอกเมย มีความสูง 1,316 เมตรจากระดับน้ำทะเล
สภาพทั่วไปของภูกระดึง ประกอบไปด้วยพรรณไม้นานาชนิด
พันธุ์สัตว์ป่านานาพันธุ์ หน้าผา ทุ่งหญ้า ลำธาร และน้ำตก
อีกทั้งยังเป็นพื้นที่ต้นน้ำของลำน้ำพอง
ซึ่งเป็นลำน้ำสายสำคัญสายหนึ่งของภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือ ด้วยความสูง
บรรยากาศ และสภาพอากาศที่เย็นสบายตลอดปี บนยอด ภูกระดึง โดยเฉพาะในช่วงฤดูหนาว อุณหภูมิอาจลดต่ำจนถึง 0 องศาเซลเซียส
จึงเป็นแรงจูงใจให้นักท่องเที่ยว ปรารถนาและหวังจะเป็นผู้พิชิตยอด ภูกระดึง สักครั้งหนึ่งในชีวิต
สำหรับการเดินทางขึ้น
ภูกระดึง นั้น ทางอุทยานฯ
จะอนุญาตให้นักท่องเที่ยวเดินขึ้นได้ตั้งแต่เวลา 07.00 - 14.00 น.
ของทุกวัน และหลังจากเวลา 14.00 น. เป็นต้นไป ทางอุทยานฯ จะไม่อนุญาต
เพราะระยะทางในการเดินทางขึ้นเขาต้องใช้เวลาในการเดินเท้า ประมาณ 4-5
ชั่วโมง ซึ่งจะตรงกับเวลาพลบค่ำในระหว่างทาง ดังนั้น
อาจจะทำให้เกิดความยากลำบาก
อีกทั้งอาจได้รับอันตรายจากสัตว์ป่าที่ออกหากินในเวลากลางคืนอีกด้วย

ไรก็ตาม อุทยานแห่งชาติภูกระดึง จ.เลย จะเปิดการท่องเที่ยวและพักแรมบนยอดภู
ตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 ตุลาคม ถึง วันที่ 31 พฤษภาคมของทุกปี
และจะทำการปิดการท่องเที่ยวและพักแรมบนยอดภูกระดึง ตั้งแต่วันที่ 1
มิถุนายน ถึง วันที่ 30 กันยายนของทุกปีเช่นกัน เพื่อเป็นการฟื้นฟูในช่วงฤดูฝน

ผานกแอ่น
ลานหินเล็กๆ มีสนต้นหนึ่ง ขึ้นโดดเด่นอยู่ริมหน้าผา
เป็นจุดท่องเที่ยวชมพระอาทิตย์ขึ้น
ผาหล่มสัก...ถ้าไม่มาชมพระอาทิตย์ตกที่นี่ ก็เหมือนไม่ได้มาเยือน
ภูกระดึง…หลายคนถึงกับออกปากไว้แบบนั้น ตัวผาหล่มสักอยู่ห่างจากผาแดง 2.5 กิโลเมตร
ผาหมากดูก...อยู่ห่างจากศูนย์บริการนักท่องเที่ยว 2.5 กิโลเมตร
เป็นผาที่มีลานหินกว้างขวาง
เป็นผาสำหรับชมพระอาทิตย์ตกที่ใกล้ที่พักมากที่สุด
น้ำตกวังกวาง...ชื่อก็บอกอยู่แล้ว น้ำตกวังกวางอยู่ใกล้ที่พักศูนย์วังกวางมากที่สุด

สระอโนดาด... อยู่
ห่างจากศูนย์บริการนักท่องเที่ยว 2.7 กิโลเมตร
เป็นสระน้ำขนาดไม่ใหญ่นักที่มีต้นสนขึ้นเป็นแนวแน่นขนัด
ใกล้กันยังมีลานกินรี
ซึ่งเป็นสวนหินธรรมชาติที่อุดมไปด้วยพรรณไม้
การเดินทาง
รถโดยสารประจำทาง
โดยสารรถยนต์จากสถานีขนส่งสายเหนือ (หมอชิต) กรุงเทพมหานคร ไปลงที่ผานกเค้า
ซึ่งเป็นเขตต่อแดนระหว่างชุมแพ-ภูกระดึง แล้วโดยสารรถประจำทาง(รถสองแถว)
ไปลงที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติภูกระดึง
จากนั้นก็เดินต่อขึ้นไปยอดภูกระดึงควรใช้รถประจำ
หรือหากนักท่องเที่ยวใช้รถประจำทางเส้นทางกรุงเทพฯ-ขอนแก่น ลงที่ชุมแพ
และต่อรถสายขอนแก่น-เลย ไปลงที่ตลาดอำเภอภูกระดึง
ซึ่งจะมีรถสองแถวต่อถึงไปอุทยานฯ

รถสองแถวแดงที่รับจ้างนำนักท่องเที่ยวส่งระหว่างจุดจอดรถที่ผานกเค้ามาที่
ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติภูกระดึง คำแนะนำคือ
ถ้าเรามาไม่กี่คนให้รวมทีมกับกรุ๊ปอื่นจะได้เฉลี่ยค่าสองแถวไม่ต้องเหมารถ

รถไฟ
จากกรุงเทพมหานครโดยสารรถไฟไปลงที่ขอนแก่น
จากนั้นโดยสารรถประจำทางสายขอนแก่น-เลย
ไปยังหน้าตลาดที่ว่าการอำเภอภูกระดึง แล้วต่อรถสองแถว
หรือเดินทางต่อไปอีกประมาณ 5 กิโลเมตร
ก็จะถึงที่ทำการอุทยานแห่งชาติภูกระดึง
ซึ่งจะเป็นจุดเริ่มต้นปีนเขาขึ้นยอดภู จากนั้นต้องเดินเท้าขึ้นยอดภู อีก 5
กิโลเมตร จึงจะถึง “หลังแป” แล้วเดินเท้าไปตามทุ่งหญ้าอีก 4 กิโลเมตร
ก็จะถึงที่พักบนยอดภูกระดึงทางอุทยานฯ
ได้จัดลูกหาบสัมภาระของนักท่องเที่ยวขึ้นไปบนยอดภูกระดึง
คิดค่าบริการเป็นกิโลกรัม

เดินทางผ่านจังหวัดสระบุรี เพชรบูรณ์ อำเภอหล่มสัก หล่มเก่า ด่านซ้าย
ภูเรือ และอำเภอเมืองเลย เลี้ยวเข้าทางหลวงแผ่นดินหมายเลข 201
(เลย-ขอนแก่น) และเลี้ยวเข้าทางหลวงจังหวัดหมายเลข 2019
เข้าสู่อุทยานแห่งชาติภูกระดึง

ใช้เส้นทางผ่านจังหวัดสระบุรี นครราชสีมา
จนถึงจังหวัดขอนแก่นเลี้ยวซ้ายเข้าทางหลวงแผ่นดินหมายเลข 201
ผ่านอำเภอภูผาม่านและตำบลผานกเค้า เข้าสู่อุทยานแห่งชาติภูกระดึง

เดินทางผ่านจังหวัดสระบุรี อำเภอปากช่อง เลี้ยวซ้ายเข้าทางหลวงแผ่นดิน
หมายเลข 201 ผ่านจังหวัดชัยภูมิ อำเภอภูเขียว
แล้วเลี้ยวซ้ายเข้าทางหลวงแผ่นดินหมายเลข 12 ผ่านอำเภอชุมแพ
จากนั้นเดินทางเช่นเดียวกับเส้นทางที่ 2
