บึงบอระเพ็ด

การ ท่องเที่ยวบึงบอระเพ็ด อีกหนึ่งกิจกรรมท่องเที่ยวที่มีชื่อเสียงของตำบลแควใหญ่ อำเภอเมือง จังหวัดนครสวรรค์ เป็นบึงน้ำจืดขนาดใหญ่ที่สุดในประเทศไทย มีเนื้อที่ประมาณ 132,737 ไร่ ครอบคลุมพื้นที่ 3 อำเภอ ได้แก่ อำเภอเมืองนครสวรรค์ อำเภอท่าตะโก และอำเภอชุมแสง ในอดีตบึงบอระเพ็ดได้ชื่อว่าเป็น "ทะเลเหนือ" หรือ "จอมบึง" เพราะมีสัตว์และพันธุ์พืชน้ำอยู่มากมาย

     จากการสำรวจพบว่ามีสัตว์อาศัยอยู่ประมาณ 148 ชนิด พืช 44 ชนิด เคยพบสัตว์หายากที่นี่ ได้แก่ นกเจ้าฟ้าหญิงสิรินธร ปลาเสือตอ ในเดือนพฤศจิกายนถึงมีนาคมจะมีนกเป็ดน้ำจำนวนมากอพยพมาที่บึงแห่งนี้ มีนกประจำถิ่นหลายชนิด อาทิ นกเป็ดน้ำ นกอีโก้ง นกอีแจว นกปากห่างซึ่งจะวางไข่ในเดือนกรกฎาคม-มีนาคม พื้นที่บางส่วนได้รับการประกาศให้เป็นเขตห้ามล่าสัตว์ป่า บึงบอระเพ็ดอยู่ในความดูแลของกองอนุรักษ์สัตว์ป่า และยังเป็นแหล่งเพาะพันธุ์ปลา โดยกรมประมงได้มาตั้งสถานีพัฒนาประมงบึงบอระเพ็ดไว้ด้วย

     การเดินทาง จากตัวเมืองนครสวรรค์ไปบึงบอระเพ็ด สามารถไปได้หลายเส้นทาง ทางเรือ จากตลาดท่าน้ำเทศบาลเมืองนครสวรรค์ไปตามลำน้ำน่านผ่านขึ้นไปทางเหนือ ประมาณ 6 กิโลเมตร ถึงปากคลองหนองดุก เมื่อลอดใต้สะพานรถไฟเข้าไปก็จะถึงบริเวณบึง

     ทางรถยนต์ สามารถเข้าถึงบึงบอระเพ็ดได้ 2 ด้าน คือ

     1) ด้านเหนือ ไปตามเส้นทางสายนครสวรรค์-ชุมแสง ทางหลวงหมายเลข 225 ประมาณ 9 กิโลเมตร จะมีทางแยกขวาอีก 2 กิโลเมตร เข้าไปยัง สถานีพัฒนาประมงน้ำจืดบึงบอระเพ็ด ในบริเวณมี ศูนย์วิจัยและพัฒนาประมงน้ำจืด จัดแสดงตู้ปลาน้ำจืดชนิดต่าง ๆ เช่น ปลากระโห้ ปลากระเบนขาว ปลากะพงขาว ปลาเทโพ ปลายี่สก ฯลฯ เปิดให้ชมฟรี ทุกวัน เวลา 08.30-16.30 น. ยกเว้น วันพุธ
